AECO has since 2013 encouraged members to install and use the “AECO Vessel Tracking”. From 2014 Vessel Tracking is a required for all SOLAS-vessels operated by AECO-members. Also non-SOLAS vessels are encouraged to use vessel tracking. The tracking system enables members to see the position of all members vessel at all times. It is considered to be a very valuable tool for safety management and risk assessments. If an incident should happen it also gives information on which ships are likely able to assist if necessary. It is a helpful tool when approaching landing sites, especially if the operators have had to amend sailing plans and are uncertain of other operators plans and whereabouts.
Relevant authorities and MRCCs are granted access to AECO’s vessel tracking.
