August 22 – 24, 2017, AECO attended the 7th Conference of the International Hydrographic Organization in Ilulissat, Greenland.

We had the pleasure of meeting with the Canadian Hydrographic Service (CHS) to discuss possibilities for cooperation.

AECO has a number of initiatives related to navigation, including a project where crowd sourced depth soundings are used to supplement official charts. Expedition cruise vessels navigating in the Arctic collect depth sounding information which are shared between operators, and between our association and authorities.

AECO welcomes the increased dialogue between the CHS and the expedition cruise industry. We look forward to exploring how we can work together to ensure safe and sustainable navigation in Canada’s Arctic.
