An exciting position where you will take on tasks related to AECOs maritime portfolio and play a key role in raising awareness of relevant maritime issues. You will be given the opportunity to impact and shape the development of sustainable Arctic expedition cruise tourism and you will be part of a professional, dedicated, and international team.

Tasks and responsibilities

  • Monitor, assess and share information on relevant maritime issues
  • Assess the impact of regulations related to maritime operations and safety
  • Lead and/or be involved in consultation processes
  • Liaise with authorities and stakeholders on issues related to expedition cruise operations
  • Take part in AECO`s Search and Rescue related work
  • Take part in incident handling
  • Conduct observations onboard AECO members’ vessels
  • Presentation and representation on behalf of AECO

Required skills and qualifications

  • Relevant high-level education such as maritime studies, maritime law, naval architect or other similar higher education
  • Insights and knowledge of current Arctic topics influencing the operational environment of cruise tourism
  • Technical competence and understanding of maritime operations and vessel technology is required
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Excellent English language and proficiency in at least one Scandinavian language
  • Good communication skills
  • Good project and time management skills
  • Structured and well organized with the ability to multitask and prioritize
  • Strong diplomatic and interpersonal skills
  • Good IT skills

Desired skills and qualifications

  • Experience from working in or with public administration, regulatory work and consultations
  • Knowledge and experience from the polar expedition cruise industry
  • Experience with use of AECO`s tools, guidelines, and standards
