AECO in Iceland to discuss sustainable tourism

This week, AECO has been in Iceland to meet with local stakeholders and share experiences from managing environmentally friendly and considerate tourism in the Arctic.

AECO joins Svalbard’s Emergency Preparedness Council

AECO to combat marine plastic litter

Armed with NOK 2.43 million in funding, UN backing and thousands of volunteers, AECO is taking on one of the biggest environmental challenges of our time: marine plastic pollution. As part of the UN Environment Clean Seas campaign, AECO will work to drastically cut back on single-use plastics on Arctic expedition cruise vessels, as well as enhance cruise passengers’ involvement in regular beach cleanups.

AECO represents cruise industry in new Arctic SAR network

Cruise industry, authorities and researchers will join forces to enhance Arctic SAR through the new ARCSAR network. Having secured €3.5 million in EU funding, the ARCSAR project will run for five years and include a live exercise on a cruise vessel.
