With the growing demand for qualified staff in the expanding expedition cruise industry, AECO and IAATO work towards minimum competency standards to ensure high levels of expertise and safety.

AECO and IAATO have partnered to create standards for field staff working on expedition cruise vessels in Polar Regions. Field staff, including Expedition Guides and Naturalists, play a vital role in guest education, safety, and off-vessel operations, such as leading hikes and driving tender boats.
