Passenger Safety Briefing Video
Video project to enhance passenger safety on Arctic expedition cruises

To improve safety and preparedness during maritime emergencies in the Arctic, AECO has partnered with the Arctic Council’s Emergency Prevention, Preparedness and Response Working Group (EPPR) to develop a safety video for passengers.
The project was initiated in response to findings from the 2022 ARCSAR LIVEX exercise, which identified gaps in passenger awareness during mass rescue operations. Funded by the Norwegian Coastal Administration, the whiteboard-style animation provides clear, visual guidance from the alarm phase through rescue and post-rescue procedures.

The video is designed for universal understanding and can be used at muster stations, during safety drills, in onboard living areas, or shared in advance of the journey. Key topics include what to do when hearing the alarm, what to expect in lifeboats or rafts, how transfers to rescue vessels are conducted, and what happens after rescue.
By increasing passenger understanding and readiness, the video supports both onboard safety and the efficiency of Arctic search and rescue operations.
