AECO Submits Input on Guide Training Requirements

AECO has submitted feedback to the Governor of Svalbard (Sysselmester) on the proposed curriculum for guide training under the new Field Safety Regulations.

“We value the open and inclusive dialogue facilitated by the Governor, as well as the extended deadline for feedback, that allowed us to gather valuable input from our 40 operating members.

“AECO’s submission reflects both broad support for many elements of the proposal and constructive suggestions for improvements—ensuring high-quality training without placing unnecessary pressure on the industry. We believe our members’ experience and perspectives are essential for developing practical and effective training requirements that benefit both guides and the wider expedition cruise sector,” says Frigg Jørgensen, AECO’s Executive Director.
