The Puffin Award

AECO acknowledges and celebrates the valuable contributions of its members through a symbolic system known as the Puffin Award.

Each time a member provides valuable support a— whether by:

Sharing important information
Assisting fellow members
Supporting the AECO Secretariat
Representing AECO externally
Promoting AECO’s values and mission

—they are awarded one virtual Puffin.

At the end of the operational year, the member who has received the highest number of Puffins is honored with AECO’s traveling trophy, the Puffin statue. The award is a bronze, life-sized sculpture of a puffin, designed by British artist Suzie March and gifted by Silversea Expeditions.

Starting in 2024, members who receive any virtual puffin during the operational year will be awarded a puffin pin as a form of recognition.
