Meet Our New Team Member

We are pleased to welcome Marc Legua Mira, who has joined the Secretariat as our new Operations Specialist.

Can you tell us a bit about your background?
“My background is in operational coordination and incident management in complex, international environments. Much of this comes from the expedition cruise industry, where I have led and coordinated both planned operations and major disruptions involving itineraries, logistics, suppliers, and large numbers of guests. My academic training in psychology and peace studies has shaped an empathetic, inclusive approach to people, identities, and cultures.”

What drew you to this role and to AECO?
“AECO’s holistic approach and strong commitment to responsible operations were key factors to me. This role aligns closely with my values and experience—multi‑stakeholder work in an international context, combined with a focus on sustainability and care for both people and the environment.”

What are you most excited about as you get started?
“I look forward to supporting AECO’s members in the day‑to‑day realities of operating in the Arctic by turning complex coordination into practical outcomes. I am also excited to collaborate across the network and contribute to initiatives that strengthen operational safety, sustainability, and resilience.”
