If you have a research proposal in mind and wish to collaborate with AECO, please consider the following guidelines to ensure a successful partnership.

• Clear communication: Use straightforward language to explain your research idea, the funding body you plan to apply to, and what specific support or involvement you expect from AECO and its operators.
• Project timeline: Provide a timeline for the proposal submission, writing process, and project execution. Early involvement is key, so please reach out to us at the initial stages, even during the pre-proposal phase.
• Research importance: Outline why your research is significant and how collaboration with AECO will enhance the project. Explain the benefits your research will bring to AECO and its operators, ensuring the outcomes are practical and actionable.
• Stakeholder engagement: If your project involves local communities, engage with relevant stakeholders as early as possible. This ensures alignment and smooth cooperation throughout the project.
• Flexible collaboration: Be open to integrating AECO’s perspectives and needs into your proposal. We need to discuss and evaluate the project within our secretariat and with our members, so please involve us in your planning and meetings with collaborators.
• Funding considerations: Be prepared to allocate a portion of your funding to cover the involvement of the AECO secretariat. This helps facilitate effective collaboration and project execution.
• Tangible outcomes: Ensure that your research delivers concrete results that are beneficial to AECO and its operators. Recommendations for further research alone are not sufficient; outcomes should provide clear value and applications.
