JASA
The Joint Arctic SAR Arena (JASA) was established in 2023 to create a dedicated network for following up on findings from Search and Rescue (SAR) exercises in the Arctic.
Since 2016, AECO has partnered with Arctic SAR organizations, including the Canadian and Icelandic Coast Guards, the Joint Arctic Command, and the Joint Rescue Coordination Center in Norway, to enhance safety in Arctic expedition cruise operations. Through joint exercises, training, workshops, and information exchange, these collaborations have highlighted the need for a more systematic approach to improving maritime safety and SAR efforts in the Arctic.
Why JASA?
The 2023 Joint Arctic SAR Event From Findings to Actions, made it clear that a more systematic and result oriented follow up on findings and areas in need of improvement is necessary. The idea of JASA (Joint Arctic SAR Arena) was born. JASA is based on an observed need to establish a network that can follow up relevant findings from SAR exercises, and otherwise serve as a platform for sharing experiences and innovations and create opportunity for new initiatives.
Our Vision
JASA is committed to enhancing safety and preparedness in Arctic waters by creating a cooperative environment where all stakeholders – governmental, non-governmental, and private entities, can actively participate in SAR planning and execution, ensuring swift and effective responses to incidents.
